New Samsung printers

Following a comprehensive tender process the University has appointed Apogee, Europe’s largest independent provider of managed print services, as the University’s new print partner.

Apogee provide fully managed document and print technology to many UK Universities and HE colleges as well as public and private sector clients.

Currently the university has more than 700 printers and multifunctional devices (MFDs) located across our campuses. However, much of the University’s existing printer fleet is past its peak in terms of environmental friendliness, performance and reliability.

What you can expect from the new Apogee technology:

  • New technology - delivering enhanced multiple functionality across all our campuses.
  • Improved reliability – newer more reliable devices which will improve uptime.
  • High performance – new faster devices to reduce warm up times, increase print speed and first page out time.
  • Intuitive devices – that are user friendly and easy to use.

The new printers will continue to provide:

  • Mobility - the ability to print from any fixed desktop PC, laptop or mobile device
  • Confidentiality and security – All print jobs are only released when you log-in at the device.
  • Collect your printing from anywhere - you send your print to a virtual queue then go to any device to release it at a time that suits you. No rushing to a device before someone else sees it or picks it up in error.
  • Colour capability everywhere – colour printing, copying and scanning will be available where required.

Secure, flexible document technology for all staff and students

Apogee will install and support a brand new fleet of Samsung multifunctional devices (MFDs) across the university. This new technology will replace the existing desktop printers, and MFDs currently supported by Konica Minolta.

The rollout of the new technology will begin in late June 2018 and will be concluded by the end of the summer 2018.

Initially you will see the installation of the new MFDs around our buildings, followed shortly thereafter by the removal of most of our existing printing, scanning, photocopying and, in some cases, fax devices.  On-site training and technical support will be provided to ensure that you can get the very best from our new technology and to minimise any disruption to your day-to-day activities during the transition period.

Keeping You Informed
