SSH Gateway service upgrade (01/06/2018)

iSolutions has upgraded the SSH Gateway service, As part of this upgrade the SSH host key of the host has changed. As such, you may be presented with a message when you next log in warning you that the "Remote Host Identification Has Changed"

In order to connect you should remove the key from your known_hosts file as described in the warning message that is displayed.

For verification that you are connecting to the new service, the new SSH key may be presented as one of the following:

RSA key fingerprint is c1:75:87:a4:4a:a0:68:d3:75:9f:4a:38:85:ee:90:c3.
ECDSA key fingerprint is SHA256:E3zBjvyXM6GD0QmoKldWONM30JqxWSXhQK5S6m/UxdQ.
ECDSA key fingerprint is MD5:1d:9f:d3:2c:a2:8a:6d:24:6a:1b:e1:81:e5:17:ce:b4.

Important notice for staff and students: Upgrade to the telephony service on 14 and 15 July

We are planning to carry out a major software upgrade of the telephone system on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 July 2018.

The telephone system upgrade will require a TOTAL SERVICE OUTAGE between 09:00 and 18:00 on Saturday 14 July, meaning that there will be NO TELEPHONE SERVICES available during that period.

Restoring the services will begin immediately after the upgrade and services are expected to be fully functional by the end of the day.

On Sunday 15 July, the system will be thoroughly tested. Telephone services should be considered 'AT RISK' for the whole duration of the update.

The main significances of this outage are:

1.       The University's 24-hour Control Centre will not have internal telephone services and therefore will have to use its external BT line to take emergency calls. The number to call is 023 8055 8477 which is accessible via a mobile phone.

2.       Internal phones all over the campuses will not be available for people to use, including the lift phones and refuge phones. Therefore as a precaution staff and students should:

  • Avoid using lifts while on site
  • If you are on site, carry a charged mobile phone
  • Avoid lone working.

3.       External callers to the University will receive an automated announcement about the outage.

4.       As a result of the upgrade any diverts to mobiles or follow me settings will be lost. Please follow the instructions for your particular model number of phone on the link below to re-instate them: How do I use my telephone?

5.       Network connections to PCs over IP phones will also be disrupted.

N.B.: The 24 hour control centre will remain available on direct BT number 023 8055 8477.

We apologise in advance for the inconvenience this is likely to cause but this update is vital to the maintenance and development of the system.
