Tudor House

Southampton’s most important historic building in the old city, it has been recently restored and the website gives additional information on exploring the old town and a Jane Austen trail.
Adults: £4.75, Concessions: £3.75. Open daily, 10am – 5pm.

Southampton City Art Gallery

This gallery holds 3,500 important artworks, housed within the Civic Centre on Commercial Road. It has a large fountain and the entrance faces Watts Park.Tel. 023 8083 4563.  Open daily: 10am-5pm

Jane Austen Trail 

Jane Austen lived in Southampton from 1807 to1809. There is a Jane Austen Trail through Southampton's Old Town. There are eight plaques each at a location associated with Jane and, available at Southampton Tourist Information Centre, where there is a free Trail leaflet and a booklet for purchase.

Sea City Museum

Opened in April 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Titanic. Adults £8.50 and Concessions £6.00. Daily 10am – 5pm.p>

Winchester is the nearest historic cathedral city to Southampton.

The cathedral, which has the longest medieval nave in Europe, has been a place of worship for over 900 years. 

Winchester is also famous for the legendary Round Table of King Arthur. The "Winchester Round Table" has been housed for over 700 years in The Great Hall - the only remaining part of Winchester Castle and it dates back to the reign of Edward I. 


Salisbury is about half an hour away by train and boasts one of the finest medical cathedral in Britain.
