Hi, I'm Bridget Barker and I studied LLB Hons within Southampton Law School at the University of Southampton.

My advice to prospective students is to think about the long term: you only spend three years at university. A law degree is a fantastic base for a wide range of career options.

Bridget Barker had a very happy time at Southampton - some of the friends she made there are still good friends. The Law School has a very good reputation and there are some excellent tutors. Bridget graduated from Southampton in 1979 and now heads up the Investment Funds and Financial Services Group at Macfarlanes, one of the City of London 's leading law firms. She specialises in advising clients on establishing onshore and offshore investment funds. She is a member of the City of London Solicitors ' Company Regulatory Committee and served for four years as Vice-Chairman of the IBA Specialised Investment Funds Committee. She is also a Council Member of the University of Southampton.
