Our staff are internationally-recognised for their work at the forefront of their fields and many are helping to shape law across the world consulting with governments, agencies, research institutes and global organisations. As well as advising on all aspects of law, they also help ensure organisations and their employees are up-to-date with the latest legislation.

We are also home to some of the world’s most prestigious research centres that are working on ground-breaking research in public, private, domestic and international law.

The Southampton Law School offers a range of opportunities in which both legal and non-legal employers can raise their profile, promote their job opportunities and engage with our students and graduates. Some of these are detailed below.

The Careers and Employability Skills Lecture Programmes

The Careers Programme has been running in the Law School for nearly twenty years and offers students a unique opportunity to develop key transferable skills as well as network and make contacts in the legal and business communities.

Students attend a range of presentations and interactive workshops led by professionals from a wide range of firms, chambers and organisations. Examples of sessions which have been organised recently include: ‘How to boost your commercial awareness’, Life as a Healthcare lawyer’, How to qualify as a solicitor – the LPC or the SQE?’, ‘Studying for an LLM’, ‘Data Privacy Lawyers’ and Careers at the Law Commission’.

In addition to our Careers Programme we also regularly organise presentations, workshops and mock interviews in which recruiters talk to our students about their organisations, facilitate interactive workshops on an aspect of the job seeking process or conduct individual mock interviews.
