Health Care law under the spotlight: Modern Law Review seminar
In May 2011, Hazel Biggs, Caroline Jones and Jonathan Montgomery hosted a two day seminar to explore the impact of litigation strategies on the development of Health Care law in England and Wales. The seminar brought together twenty-five invited participants, including academics, legal and medical practitioners and others who have either participated in test case litigation or have an academic interest in relevant cases. Sessions were organised around key themes, including: The epidemiology of legal threats ; Case selection bias: Hard cases make bad law; The "legitimacy" of test case strategies and Whether to fight or concede: settlement questions.
The seminar has helped to lay the foundations for a broader project on law-making, and was generously funded by the Modern Law Review .
