European insights for law students
A party of 20 law students found out more about the European Parliament for themselves in a visit to Brussels last month, organised with Keith Taylor, Green Party MEP for the South East.
During the trip, a Parliament official outlined the structure of European institutions, their roles, and how they interact, before meeting Keith who talked about his background and his role representing the Green Party. “With Greece announcing only the day before that it was willing to accept the bond swap deal put forward by private investors, we found there were many hot topics and theories to discuss,” says student Lavan Thasarathakumar. Finally, students visited the main plenary session hall of the European Parliament.
Other highlights of the visit were trips to the Chocolate Factory in Brussels and the historic town of Bruges.
