Intimations of Global Law

Published: 7 February 2013

Professor Neil Walker from Edinburgh Law School will deliver the Southampton Law School’s Centre of Law, Ethics and Globalisation's (CLEG) Annual Lecture, sponsored by Hart Publishing, on Thursday 7 February 2013.

‘Global law' is an increasingly familiar term in our legal vocabulary. It refers, narrowly, to forms of positive law that claim a globally extensive reach as well as, more broadly, to an entire new paradigm of legal thought. The lecture will explore the significance of characterising this new domain of global law.

Neil Walker is Regius Professor of Public Law and the Law of Nature and Nations in Edinburgh; his main area of expertise is constitutional theory. He has published extensively on the constitutional dimension of legal order at sub-state, state, supranational and international levels, as well as on questions of the relationship between security, legality and civility.

The lecture will take place at 6.00pm in the Murray Lecture Theatre, Highfield Campus.
