Footballing law students win sponsorship

The Southampton Law Society’s football team LAW Galaxy has won sponsorship from local law firm Coffin Mew solicitors.

LAW Galaxy plays against other student teams in Division Two of the University's Intramural League. The £500 has paid for new kit for the 18-strong squad. At present the trainee lawyers are midtable in the division, but they did not lose a game last semester.

"It's great to have the backing of such a well-respected law firm," says second year LLB student and captain Michael Medici. "Playing football keeps you fit but it's also a good way to get to know other law students and get some advice on choosing modules and job applications."

Darren Tibble, Training Partner at Coffin Mew comments: "We believe that it's important to demonstrate our support for our future lawyers, not just by mentoring and attending Law Fairs, but by helping them in their endeavours outside of working life. Many of our own lawyers are active sportspeople and we know the importance of working in teams when it comes to providing client service excellence."

Law students also take part in netball and badminton Intramural competitions.
