Published: 8 May 2013

The Southampton Law School is delighted to announce that from the start of the 2013/14 academic year, M101 Accelerated programme students can choose to enrol onto the JD Pathway.

For students on this pathway in their first year they will study Criminal Law, Contract Law, Constitutional Law and Legal System and Reasoning.

After the successful completion of the year 1 core modules; in the second and final year at Southampton, JD Pathway M101 students will study the four remaining core modules of Equity & Trusts, EU Law, Land Law and Tort Law in order to satisfy the requirements of obtaining a qualifying law degree.

In addition, students will take the core half-year module LAWS3099 Constitutional Law of Canada (taught by Dr Alun Gibbs) in Semester 2, as well as a Law half-year option or a CIP module of their choice in Semester 1.

Law half modules for Semester 1 2013/14 are:
Renting Homes: Law and Policy;
Penal Policy;
Unjust Enrichment;
EU Competition Law;
Miscarriages of Justice;
Globalisation and Law;
EU Environmental Law; and
International Criminal Law.

Alternatively, students can choose one of the 2013/14 Semester 1 Curriculum Innovation Modules (CIP):
A Language course;
Sustainability in the Local and Global Environment;
Economics with experiments;
Social Enterprise; and
Health Policy and Economics.

We anticipate that in time the half options available will increase providing students with more choice.

Please note, this is a JD pathway only. Students are still responsible for getting the Canadian NCA Conversion of their degree, see website of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada .

Full information about the Southampton JD Pathway will be added to our web-site in due course. This pathway has only just received Faculty approval so this is hot off the press!
