Staff from Southampton Law School and Southampton Business School have been recognised by the University for their contribution towards Enterprise and Impact.

Paulina Sikorska, from Southampton Law School, and Kun Duan, Southampton Business School won the ‘Doctoral College Director’s Award 2017’ in Enterprise and Impact, presented in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the success of the University of Southampton Small Business Clinic.

Paulina and Kun are coordinators for the joint initiative between the Business and Law Schools.  The Small Business Clinic is run throughout the academic year by a voluntary group of Law and Business students and staff with the support of a local firm of Chartered Accountants offering free advice on a range of issues to include all aspects of general, legal and tax compliance matters relating to running a business in the UK.

Paulina Sikorska
Paulina Sikorska

Paulina is a PhD Scholar (fully-funded) researching IP law in the context of new technologies at the University of Southampton. She graduated from McGill University, Canada, where she attained the title of Master of Laws in Air and Space Law and is a life-time member of the Institute of Air and Space Law at McGill.

She presented her research at a number of both postgraduate and international scientific conferences across the world and published numerous articles in journals, magazines and legal newsletters. She is a recipient of the Excellence in Law and Politics Award for her article „The mission (Im)possible: Towards the Comprehensive Framework Regulating Safety Issues of Point to Point Suborbital Flights” (2014).

She is a member of numeral UK and international associations, inter alia, the Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association, Royal Aeronautical Society and Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence.
