Expert in criminal law features on BBC London

Published: 21 February 2018

Dr Harry Annison, Lecturer in Criminal Law and Criminology appeared on BBC London Tonight yesterday during their feature on IPP (imprisonment for public protection) sentences alongside Peter Dawson of the Prison Reform Trust.

Dr Annison argued that there is injustice for some prisoners and their families who are retained under this form of sentencing despite the abolishment of IPP in 2012, but he acknowledged that there are difficulties for the government and how they can tackle this issue due to the labelling of these prisoners as ‘dangerous’, some of whom still fit this profile.
