Clyde & Co Challenge 2018

On Wednesday evening (24 October) Professor Brenda Hannigan, Head of Southampton Law School, presented the winning first year group with the prize for the 2018 Clyde & Co Challenge at a reception in Garden Court. This award celebration was the culmination of the Law School’s annual first year team building events kindly sponsored by the prestigious international Law firm Clyde & Co.

The Challenge had been set in the first week of term following a day of activities, designed to encourage student participation in group activities and reflection upon their effectiveness as a team. Drawn from their first year tutorial groups each team was given a topic, which they had to research (including reading relevant cases, legislation and academic comment) to prepare a presentation that also demonstrated their oral presentation and team working skills. The only stipulation was that each group member had to participate in either the presentation or the subsequent review. The preparation was ably assisted by an enthusiastic group of second year PASS Mentors who did a fabulous job of supporting the first years as they developed new skills in research, effective group, time and work load management and honed their presentation to engage the judges with confident, well-informed, timely and dynamic performances.
