Dr Asif Hameed and Dr Alun Gibbs submit evidence to parliamentary enquiry

Published: 3 July 2020

Constitutional law and public law experts, Dr Asif Hameed and Associate Professor Dr Alun Gibbs, recently submitted evidence to a parliamentary committee examining the public law aspects of COVID-19 legislation. The submission was to the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs committee, in response to the Covid-19 and Coronavirus Act inquiry.

The paper focused on two questions; should the "lockdown regulations" have been included as part of the Coronavirus Act 2020? and, would the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 have been an appropriate Act to use to introduce covid-19 legislation?

You can download the full document below, or access it, and other responses on the committee parliament website.
