WATCH NOW Professor Emily Reid joins The Society of International Economic Law monthly webinar

Published: 15 September 2020

Professor Emily Reid was recently invited by The Society of International Economic Law to speak at the second of its 'Conversations' – a newly launched series of monthly webinars on international economic law. The aim of the Conversations is 'to bring together authors and commentators to give talks that are idea-focused so as to foster learning and inspiration, and provoke conversations that matter'.

The focus of the second conversation was 'International Economic Law in a Changing World: New Approaches to Teaching Tomorrow's Knowledge & Skills'.

Discussion explored both the substantive challenges of teaching an expanding and ever evolving discipline, and the particular challenges of doing so in the current context in which blended online and face to face learning is becoming the new normal. In her contributions Emily drew in particular from her experience of teaching 'Law of the World Trade Organisation' to post graduate students and 'Globalisation and Law' to undergraduates, including reflections upon her purpose in designing and delivering these modules. Discussion also included broader consideration of her and others' approach to teaching, particularly in the new context of blended learning. The Conversation was Moderated by Professor Lisa Toohey, University of Newcastle, New South Wales, and the other speakers were Thomas Molloy Lead Learning Designer, Curio Education Consulting, Sydney; Prof. Tomer Broude, Hebrew University of Jerusalem; Prof. Yogesh Pai, National Law University, Delhi.

The Conversation streamed live on 27 August 2020, but is available to watch on this YouTube link
