Dr Schmidt co-organises Competition Law in Context Workshop
On 26 January 2023 the Competition Law in Context Workshop took place at Pembroke College, Oxford. This was co-organised by Dr Hedvig Schmidt in collaboration with the Swedish Network for European Legal Studies (SNELS) and The Oxford Centre for Competition Law and Policy & Journal of Antitrust Enforcement.
The Workshop sought to capture the common theme oriented towards the “big ideas” which kept Professor Steve Anderman’s attention throughout his academic career: ‘competition’ as a means to secure the very basis of the EU’s legal order. The workshop sought to retrace Professor Anderman’s ability to place legal problems into a broader context and framework in his work. At the workshop Dr Schmidt presented a paper titled Merger Regulation in the Digital Economy and the Forgotten Goal of Innovation.
Other speakers at the workshop included:
- Stefan Enchelmaier (University of Oxford)
- Gustavo Ghidin (University of Milan)
- Vladimir Bastidas (Uppsala University)
- Mariateresa Maggiolino, (University of Bocconi)
- Ingeborg Simonsson, (Unified Patent Appeal Court)
- John Kallaugher (Latham & Watkins, of Counsel)
- William Kovacic (The George Washington University Law School)
- Björn Lundqvist (SNELS / Stockholm University)
The papers presented will appear in a forthcoming special edition of the Journal of Antitrust Enforcement.
