Southampton is undoubtedly the top choice when it comes to Maritime Law. The solid reputation, the flexibility in tailoring the programme to your interests and the alumni network were the key factors in choosing the course.

The advice I would give to a student starting their degree at Southampton is to be prepared to work hard and to know that the teaching staff will be there to support your efforts.

Southampton helped us to settle in by conducting a one-week introduction to Common Law, allowing me to familiarise myself with the basic concepts of English Law.

One of the highlights of my study was ranking first in the LLM for academic performance. Winning several awards was a great reward of my efforts, especially given the high level of competition within the programme.

Whilst my hectic schedule did not leave much time for extra-curricular activities, I did participate in the LLM challenge during my time at Southampton Law School.

The internship I completed with Campbell Johnston Clark as part of my award for Best Combined Mark across International Trade Law and Carriage of Goods By Sea was a very useful experience. It allowed me to see how a Maritime Law firm works and how I fit in this modus operandi.

Maritime Law is a fascinating subject. The tutorials and the experience of the staff allowed us to visualise the cases we studied, some of which were extraordinary.

Southampton is a small city but its proximity to London gives you the freedom to try any extraordinary event.
