I chose the University of Southampton for my studies because it is one of the top rated Universities for Maritime Law and alumnus of Southampton are well recognised and accepted in the shipping industry worldwide. I am currently the Partner of United Maritime Law Chambers, a boutique Shipping law firm based out of Cochin, India.

The University has a very expansive library and I enjoyed reading the decisions especially in the Lloyds Law Reports, and LMCLQ. The University has a conducive atmosphere for learning and the lecturers are world class academics. The LLM challenge really helped my personal development by shaping my advocacy skills. Participating in the moot was an enriching experience.

Southampton is undoubtedly a wonderful place to study and live. As a student you can enjoy a whole range of activities including watching plays at the Nuffield theatre or walk at the common, the local park. Studying in Southampton is a rewarding and enriching experience.

I stay in close contact with other alumni through social media networks. We have a maritime law Facebook group comprising of LLM graduates from Southampton and we add new alumni every year. I also receive alumni newsletters regularly which helps me to understand the latest developments. The worldwide network of friends I met at Southampton has helped a great deal in shaping and developing my practise as a maritime lawyer.

I would strongly recommend any new student to study at Southampton, it is a wonderful Institution providing a great learning experience.
