Explore optional modules

All our undergraduate programmes offer a rigorous legal education that will prepare you for a career in Law or beyond. You will study core legal subjects in your first and second years, providing a firm foundation in Law, alongside your chosen options. In your third year, as well as the optional modules of your choice, you will undertake an extended research project on a topic that you will also choose, culminating in a 10,000-word dissertation.

What are the core legal modules?

You will be able to select from a wide range of optional modules, allowing you to tailor your degree to suit your interests. Are you interested in subjects key to the UK’s economic success, such as commercial and maritime law, the law that regulates insurance agreements or intellectual property rights? Or are you fascinated by health care law and ethics, or family law? Perhaps you are keen to study the criminal justice system, or the workings of Parliament and the government.

Our optional modules reflect the research expertise of the Law School’s academic staff, so you will learn from people at the forefront of their field, who will inspire your interest and bring their subject alive.

We offer an annual module fair, where students can meet with academics and students to discuss the options available to them.
