I chose the University of Southampton because of its high ranking in the world and because it is part of the Russell group of Universities.

I enjoy discovering the different parts of law that I love the most, and discovering things about myself and what my drive is. Studying law pushes me out of my comfort zone and makes me think outside of the box

Before I joined the University, I was wondering if I’d be able to make it because the way of teaching is very different from Ghana – but the law school did a great job in helping me to settle in the first few weeks. There was a two day team building exercise and one of the things we did during the team building exercise was talk about our fears. I realised that I wasn’t alone and that there were other people who felt just like I did at the time. It was very consoling. I also had a peer mentor who was always ready to help.

Studying here is challenging because I have to adapt to new ways of learning but it’s very exciting because I love trying new things and I am very adaptable. My lecturers are inspiring and eager to help. Since studying here, I have not only gained academic knowledge, I have also gained remarkable transferrable skills that enable me to perform excellently in different fields.

What I enjoy most about studying law is discovering the different parts of law that I love the most and with that discovering things about myself and what my drive is. I also love how studying law pushes me out of my comfort zone and makes me think outside of the box.

My best experience has been meeting and making friends with people from different parts of the world. Southampton is very multicultural and the gift of having to interact with people from different parts of the world is priceless.

For someone like me who likes peace and quiet, the city of Southampton is the best place for me, it’s a very safe city to live in. However, the quiet and safe nature of the city does not make it boring - there are a number of places you can go to for fun.
