Dr Becki Nash
Academic Skills Lead (Pre-Entry)

Becki joined the Learn with US Transition team in September 2016 with a remit to broaden support for schools and colleges meeting widening participation criteria. Since the establishment of the University's Widening Participation and Social Mobility directorate, Becki has led the Pre-entry Academic Skills Team, under which Learn with US Transition is a key initiative.
Becki is a Southampton alumni, having previously been awarded a BSc in Sociology (2011), an MSc in Web Science (2012) and a PhD in Web Science (2017). She has diverse research interests, writing her PhD about the impact of the Web on cosmetic surgery and feminist politics, and this is represented in some of her taster lectures to schools and colleges about body modification practices and processes. More recently her research interests revolve around widening access to Higher Education, and particularly the benefits of project-based learning in transitions to Higher Education for those from underrepresented backgrounds.
