Learn with US Transition Lecture Package

The Learn with US Transition team have put together a package of resources for students in Years 12 and 13 who wish to familiarise themselves with styles of Higher Education teaching and learning.

The materials comprise a presentation by Dr Emma Thompson about what to expect at university, and some essential academic research skills. This is complemented by two taster lectures produced by Dr Richard Penny and Dr Becki Nash. The talks cover pertinent topics – the prospect of Universal Basic Income (UBI) and the use of the Web in health information-seeking, both of which have come under close scrutiny due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

In addition, each talk is accompanied by further reading lists, exemplar lecture notes and a range of seminar-style questions for students to address.

The aim of this package is to provide an impression of what teaching and learning in a university setting is like, providing a foundation for students to build on in their respective future fields of study.
