Contracts and Commercial advice

When you are thinking of working or collaborating with a third party, be it individuals, companies, government departments, EU, funders or otherwise, we can assist you with any commercial issues that may arise.

In most circumstances you will need a written, enforceable contract which must be approved and authorised by the University. Note that contracts with third parties are entered into by the University, not by individual staff members or Departments/Faculties of the University.

Negotiating contracts can take time so it is important that you involve us in the process as early as possible.

Some examples of commercial contracts where we advise, draft and negotiate:

· Purchase and supply contracts in relation to the University’s suppliers and partners;

· IP & licensing agreements;

· IT contracts;

· Collaboration Agreements; and

· Student funding agreements.

Whether you need support in day-to-day matters or for a specific project or transaction, we are able to advise on and assist with the necessary procedures and any related legislation and prepare/review the associated documentation.

This list is not exhaustive, and there are many more types of contract that we deal with. Please contact us with any queries.

We are happy to provide awareness seminars for individual schools or services tailored to meet your needs.
