Employment

Legal Services provides advice on all aspects of employment law, both via Human Resources and direct to Schools and Services.

This can include providing guidance regarding policy development, project work including TUPE issues arising from award of grants, in- or out-sourcing of services, redundancies and reorganisations, or working with project groups to ensure ongoing legal compliance in light of legal developments.

Addressing individual employee issues may include:

Please note the team is unable to provide legal advice regarding employees’ personal employment circumstances.

Where disputes cannot be otherwise resolved, the team provides representation in the employment tribunal for claims brought against the University (although external counsel may be brought in where appropriate).

Employment law is a complex and constantly developing area in which line managers can benefit from training. Legal Services is able to provide staff development training on areas with an employment law aspect and can arrange briefings for individual schools and services.
