University Hospital Southampton Open Day

24th September 2016
The University Hospital Southampton held it's annual open day on Saturday 24th September. The event included; tours of different departments, operating theatres and even the mortuary, the chance to meet the air ambulance team and see inside the helicopter, arm plastering, a giant inflatable breast that could be walked through to educate about breast cancer and lots of different hands on scientific activities to showcase the research that goes on at UHS. Up at LifeLab we teamed up with the MRC to offer people the chance to test their grip strength, make x-ray hands, find out about alcohol units and extract their own DNA. Around 450 people came through the doors in what was a very successful day for us and the Hospital. It was a chance for the public to see first hand what goes on in their Hospital and find out more about the research taking place. You can read more about it on the Chief Executive's blog here .
