Restart a Heart Day A Big Success

Training young people to save lives.
On Tuesday 18th October University Hospital Southampton hosted Restart a Heart Day. Members of the public and visitors to the hospital were trained in vital life saving CPR techniques by the hospital resus team. Forty six students from Richard Taunton Sixth Form College attended in the morning. As well as learning vital CPR skills with the resus team they also had the opportunity to find out about their own health up at LifeLab and meet with staff from all different areas of the hospital and University to find out about career options within the trust. In the afternoon LifeLab welcomed it's fisrt ever class of Primary School students to the facility. Thirteen students from South Baddesley Primary School near Lymington took part in the physiology circus before going with the resus team for their CPR training. They also got to see inside the childrens ambulance and even got a wave from the helicopter pilot when the air ambulance too off! The day was a great success for the hospital, raising awareness of this vital skill and increasing the number of people trained in life saving techniques.
