LifeLab invites students currently in Years 9-11 who are interested in finding out more about becoming a doctor to attend our Summer School. Students will spend two days at Southampton General Hospital where they will gain experience of what it is like to work as a doctor.
- learn how to perform clinical skills and practise these on a model
- visit doctors working in different areas and watch them at work
- investigate the health of a simulated patient, and use medical equipment to ‘diagnose’ their condition
- talk to medical students about training as a doctor and find out how the application process works
- listen to a keynote speaker, talking about life as a doctor
The two-day programme costs £150 per student, price includes refreshments.
Places for the Summer School are in high demand. The online store will open in March 2015, and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
We have 5 bursary spaces available for students who may be in need of financial support (e.g. those who are identified as Pupil Premium). Details of the bursary process will be published in February 2015.
