Welcome to Lifelong Learning at the University of Southampton. We deliver the University's community learning programme, offering opportunities for adult learners to enhance their skills and broaden their knowledge in a range of subject areas.
We offer courses in several subjects, which reflect the expertise and academic excellence of the University. Subjects include:
Our diverse range of courses runs throughout October to July. Courses normally run weekly during weekday evenings and range from 6 to 30 weeks.
Besides our evening courses, we also run an annual Open Day on a Saturday in September. We’ll announce details, including how to book, during Summer 2025.
Lifelong Learning is based at our Avenue Campus, where most of our courses and events take place. It hosts many parking spaces. Parking restrictions do not apply after 5pm and you can park at the campus while you attend your course. Parking spaces are available for blue badge holders, on the left-hand side of the car park.
The University is connected to many public transport routes. Our Avenue Campus map provides directions and links to Unilink buses, which stop directly outside the campus.
When you study with us, you’ll have access to a full range of learning resources through the University libraries and online. You’ll receive a student card and email address, enabling you to use a variety of discounts and student offers.
Whether you’re looking to study for personal enjoyment, develop your career, or wish to take the next step towards higher education: take a look at our Lifelong Learning programme and join our vibrant lifelong learning community.
