Where to find us

Most of our courses and events take place at the Avenue Campus. For any events taking place at other locations information will be provided on the event page.

The Campus

Lifelong Learning is based at the Faculty of Humanities on the Avenue Campus, at the edge of Southampton Common and a short walk from the main University campus at Highfield. The main campus houses the Students Union, an impressive range of cultural and recreational facilities, the Library and many shops including a travel agent, Waterstones bookshop, two health practices and outlets for the main high street banks. The Avenue Campus has its own reference library, computer workstation clusters, lecture-theatres and seminar rooms. The café and central courtyard provide a quiet place to relax and the Campus also has its own outdoor tennis courts.

Southampton

The city of Southampton is on the south coast of England within easy reach of London by train. The city has a rich and varied heritage and is one of the great European ports. It has played a significant role in Britain's maritime history from the sailing of the Mayflower to the fateful voyage of the Titanic. Today, the city is the home of ocean sailing. Southampton is the region's main culture centre and is set amidst some of Britain's most significant historical sites such as the ancient cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester, the prehistoric site of Stonehenge, and the picturesque New Forest, one of the oldest and most beautiful woodlands in Europe. The seaside resort of Bournemouth is only half an hour away.
