The Secret in Their Eyes

This course will illustrate the richness and variety of contemporary world cinema through viewing and critical discussion of recent prize-winning films from around the world . Eight recently-made films will be viewed on successive weeks at Harbour Lights Picturehouse.

They will exemplify some of the best of current world cinema, coming from four continents, each from a different country, and selected because of their exceptional quality e.g. A Separation (Iran), The Secret in Their Eyes (Argentina), Poetry (South Korea), Animal Kingdom (Australia), Le Quattro Volte (Italy), Lebanon ( Israel) ,Melancholia (Denmark), The Kid with a Bike (Belgium).

Each film will be placed in a context that includes the filmmaking history of the country of origin, the work of the key creative people involved in making the film, and its reception.
