Partitioning Ireland: The Irish Revolution, 1912-1922

This course will examine the Irish Revolution and a couple of sessions will also consider a gendered perspective that you cannot find in a textbook. It will trace the development of the revolution from debates over Home Rule in the 1912-1914 period, through WWI, the growth and political triumph of Sinn Fein in the 1918 election and into the Anglo-Irish and Civil Wars. The module will culminate in the partition of Northern and Southern Ireland.
