History

History at Southampton is a department of international quality with staff who are working at the cutting edge of their particular discipline in terms of research and publication. We offer a wide variety of events and courses which are open to the public.

Designed to enable you to develop your knowledge of the past and broaden your understanding of historical connections and relationships between people and societies, our courses and events are open to all. You will learn how studying past events and people's reactions to them can allow you to challenge your perceptions of present day problems.

We are offering a selection of evening courses which run over a 8-10 week period and are taught by experts in the department, study days for people with less time to commit and public lectures and events which are generally free to attend.

Please explore our website to find out more about History's exciting public events programme.
