Modern Languages evening courses

We offer a wide range of evening classes to suit all abilities - from complete beginner to advanced conversationalist.

Most courses take place in the evening, although some may be available during the day. Classes are normally two hours per week over 10 weeks, and the majority are designed to develop all four language skills - speaking, understanding, reading and writing - with an emphasis on speaking and understanding in the class sessions.

Most language classes take place at the University's Avenue Campus which has excellent language-learning facilities and extensive resources. Once you have enrolled on one of our Modern Language courses you will be able to use these facilities to develop your learning.

Language stages are divided into three parts (a, b and c) which run throughout the year October to June. To complete a stage and to move on to the next one you need to complete all three parts a b and c. Each part of a stage is divided into a 10 week teaching term and you can choose to book per term or opt to pay for the 3 terms for which you will receive a substantial discount.

Term dates for 2017/18:
Autumn: starts week commencing 09/10/17 - ending week commencing 14/12/2017 (10 weeks)
Spring: starts week commencing 15/01/18 - ending week commencing 23/03/2018 (10 weeks)
Summer: starts week commencing 16/04/18 - ending week commencing 22/06/2018 (10 weeks)

Important information:
Please note that your course will only run if it receives a sufficient number of bookings . This will be confirmed closer to the start date of the course. If your course is cancelled due to insufficient booking numbers, you will receive a full refund. Please note that the booking/payment confirmation that you receive should not be taken as a guarantee that the course will run. This confirmation will be sent to you separately once it has been established that the course will go ahead.

If you select the staff or student price option, you must use an online store account that has been set up with your University email address and fill out your University staff or student ID number when prompted as part of the questionnaire data section.
