Event details

We will be holding a one-day cultural event on Saturday 9th March consisting of a series of short talks led by experts from within Archaeology, English and History at Southampton. This thought provoking and inspiring conference will provide you with the opportunity to learn and engage in discussion about Henry V from academics of international distinction.

Henry V was King of England from 1413 until his death in 1422. Henry is particularly well known for his military successes in the Hundred Years' War, culminating with his famous victory at the Battle of Agincourt. March 2013 marks the 600th anniversary of his accession and this study day will celebrate his life and reign from a variety of different perspectives in history and literature, including Shakespeare's ‘King Henry V'.

The day will be held on 9th March 2013 and is open to all. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion after each talk, which will be led by experts from History, English and Archaeology.

We are also hoping to have with us the famous actor, Robert Hardy, to speak about his experiences of playing Henry V.
