Event details

Rationality might seem to have unquestionable authority.

After all, while it is not crazy to question the requirements of law, convention, or even morality, it might seem crazy to question the requirements of rationality. But philosophers are not known for ignoring questions, including some apparently crazy ones. So it may come as no surprise that philosophers have asked whether we necessarily ought to heed the commands of rationality. This talk will explore such questions, arguing that they are much harder to answer than one might think.
