Event details

Over the last few years there has been a huge increase in interest and awareness of the importance of sustainability. Fashion today is beginning to focus on this, but did you know the idea of reusing objects from your wardrobe and sustainable fashion dates back to the 18th century. Sally Grant, a PhD researcher will begin this webinar by taking us through some of her research exploring the history of this topic and how past people revitalised their clothing to avoid waste. She will then explain how sustainable fashion designers today, such as Issey Miyake, are using these concepts in their work. The webinar will conclude with an exploration of how you can sustainably revitalise and reuse clothing from your own wardrobe, a topic on which Sally has previously worked showcased in the media and in which she works professionally.
