Hi, I'm Jamie Kimber and I studied BSc Mathematics with Finance within Mathematical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

I am very grateful for all the opportunities that studying Mathematics at Southampton has given me.

Q: Why did you choose to study Mathematics at the University of Southampton?

I chose to study Mathematics with Finance for my degree because I felt that it would give me a good grounding for working in the finance industry as well as being able to advance my Mathematical skills learnt at A-level. I chose Southampton as it is one of the leading universities in the country and a member of the Russell group. In addition my father is a University of Southampton alumni and recommended it to me as well as my sister who also studied here.

Q: Were there any particular modules which you enjoyed?

I really enjoyed the variety of modules offered as this gave me loads of choice in what I studied. As well as the study programme I really enjoyed all the social activities that Southampton was able to offer; in particular the two seasons that I played for the Maths football team. I was also a committee member during my third year.

Q: What do you feel you have achieved as a result of studying at the University of Southampton?

I am very grateful for all the opportunities that studying Mathematics at Southampton has given me. What I have learnt above all is that if you give 100% commitment you ultimately get your reward.
