7 was heaven but 8 is GR8: Actuarial Science at Southampton now offers CT1-CT8 exemptions
We are delighted to announce that the Institute of Actuaries has just awarded a further exemption status to students on the Mathematics with Actuarial Science (G1N3) undergraduate programme at the University of Southampton.
Students on this programme can now achieve exemption from all 8 of the UK professional actuarial examinations in Core Technical Subjects CT1-CT8 by performing sufficiently well on individual courses within the programme.
This additional award places Southampton’s Mathematics with Actuarial Science programme at the forefront of undergraduate professional actuarial education provision in the UK. Students who achieve full exemption from CT1-CT8 not only graduate with a well-respected degree from a leading university but also begin their actuarial careers with about a two-year head start on the travel time to become a fully qualified actuary and only 7 of the 15 professional examinations remaining.
Qualification with the UK actuarial profession is internationally recognized and, once qualified, actuaries can enjoy the fruits of a well-paid and well-respected career.
The School of Mathematics is also currently developing a 1-year ‘conversion’ MSc in Actuarial Science that will offer full CT1-CT8 exemption for those with a good honours undergraduate degree in a numerate but non-actuarial discipline. Watch this space….
