Southampton PhD student wins World Universities Network Research Mobility Award
Chris Marley, a second year PhD student in Statistics at Southampton, has been awarded a Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) Research Mobility award. The funding will allow Chris to visit Penn State University in the USA for two months for joint research with Professor Dennis Lin.
Chris' PhD research is developing new methods for the statistical design of screening experiments, working with his supervisor Dr Dave Woods. In particular, Chris is studying supersaturated designs to investigate a large number of factors in a small number of runs. Such designs have application in a wide variety of industrial fields, and Chris' research is supported by Lubrizol. Professor Lin was a pioneer of research in this field and so the WUN award is a great opportunity for Chris.
