Lectureship in Statistics School of Mathematics & Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute, University of Southampton, UK. Salary £34,607 - £43,840 per annum (UK pounds) Closing date: 30 November 2010 at 12.00 noon (GMT)

Applications are invited for a Lectureship in Statistics, with effect from 1 August 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a UK Lectureship, that is, a permanent academic faculty appointment.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding statistician with an excellent track record of research and the potential for research leadership in an area which will enhance and extend the current interests of the Statistics group in the School of Mathematics and in the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI).

Preference will be given to an individual with a record of excellent research in design and analysis of experiments, though outstanding candidates in other areas of statistics will be seriously considered.

Duties, as determined by the Head of School, will include: conducting research of international standing in statistics, applying for externally funded research grants and enhancing the international profile of the research group, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate statistics, and supervision of research students. As part of the role you will also be expected to support effective management and administration of the School.

It is expected that interviews will be held in early January 2011. As part of the interview process, candidates will be invited to give a research presentation.
