Southampton plays host to national conference

This year’s national Research Students’ Conference (RSC) in Probability and Statistics is being held at the University of Southampton.
Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI) and Mathematics at the University will play host to more than 150 statistical researchers that will descend on the conference in the summer.
It is the 35th time the annual event has been convened and it aims to provide postgraduate statisticians and probabilists with an opportunity to present their research.
The four-day event, from July 9 to 12, is organised by postgraduates for postgraduates and is open to PhD students or equivalent in any field relating to probability or statistics.
Professor Peter Smith
, Director of S3RI, said: “We are looking forward to holding such a prestigious student conference here in Southampton. It is only the second time in its history that it has been staged in Southampton so it is huge privilege for us to host it.
“The conference is an excellent opportunity for the students to make contacts and discuss their work with colleagues. For many it is also the first experience they have of presenting their work.”
