Maths Challenge 2013 awards
On 15 May the winners of the University of Southampton Mathematics Challenge 2013 were invited to a prize award ceremony.
1,041 students from across the South have taken part in the University of Southampton Mathematics Challenge (formally Hampshire Maths Challenge), a competition aimed at pupils in Years 7 to 10.
Prizes and certificates were awarded by Professor Adam Wheeler, Provost and Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University. There were over 1,000 entries to the competition this year from more than 30 schools around the South of England.
Dr Nick Wright who ran the challenge commented, “We had an excellent response to the competition this year. It was extremely competitive for the top places and all the winners can be extremely proud of their achievements. We have some of the mathematical stars of the future amongst our winners!”
The University of Southampton Mathematics Outreach team run various events and workshops for students at all ability levels and will be launching the University of Southampton Mathematics Challenge again next year.
