Mathematical sciences recognised for commitment to equality

Mathematical Sciences commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion has been recognised by AdvanceHE , the Higher Education development organisation, by their renewal of the Athena-SWAN bronze award.
The Athena-SWAN Charter scheme is aimed at addressing equality in academia. In particular, it addresses the under-representation of women and high loss rate of women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine.
Mathematical Sciences was first awarded the Athena-SWAN bronze award in May 2015. Their efforts in setting up an inclusive and welcoming environment for students and staff have been recognised by the confirmation of the bronze award for another three years, until November 2021.
Representatives from the department will be formally presented with the award at a ceremony at Swansea University in July.
