Eight new Turing Fellows from Mathematical Sciences
Congratulations to Jacek Brodzki, Philip Greulich, Ben Macarthur, Helen Ogden, Houdou Qi, Marika Taylor, Dave Woods and Alain Zemkoho wha have all been appointed as Turing Fellows by the Alan Turing Institute.
The Alan Turing Institute is the national institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The University of Southampton is one of 13 partner universities, having joined the Institute in 2018.
Turing Fellows are established scholars with proven research excellence in data science, artificial intelligence, or a related field. They contribute to new ideas, drive collaborative projects, secure external funding and provide research expertise which is actively connected with the Institute and its network of universities and industry partners. They also contribute to the activities and training at the core of the Institute’s mission and the ongoing development of the next generation of researchers.

Professor Dave Woods
Dave Woods is a Professor of Statistics in the Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute (S3RI) and Mathematical Sciences. His research interests focus on the design and analysis of both physical and computer experiments, Bayesian methods, and the application of Statistics to science and technology. Much of his work is interdisciplinary and involves collaborations with researchers from other disciplines, and with government and industry. From 2012-2017, he held an EPSRC Fellowship.

Dr Alain Zemkoho PhD, FHEA, FIMA
Alain is an Associate Professor within the School of Mathematics, where he is affiliated to CORMSIS and the OR Group. Prior to joining the University of Southampton, he was a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham and had previously worked as a Research Associate at the Technical University of Freiberg. He has also had research stays at the Technical University of Dresden, ORSTAT Centre - KU Leuven, and at Wayne State University.
