Professor Nathan Seiberg, a theoretical physicist at the Institute of Advanced Study, Princeton will give the annual Southampton Theory Astrophysics and Gravity (STAG) Research Centre lecture on Wednesday 13 November at 14:30.

You can watch the live stream via our Video system Panopto. All the tickets are now booked.

In recent decades, physicists and astronomers have discovered two beautiful Standard Models, one for the quantum world of extremely short distances, and one for the universe as a whole. Both models have had spectacular success, but there are also strong arguments for new physics beyond these models. In this lecture, entitled The Frontiers of Fundamental Physics, Professor Seiberg will review these models, their successes and their shortfalls. He will describe how experiments in the near future could point to new physics suggesting a profound conceptual revolution, which could change our view of the world.

Professor Kostas Skenderis, Director of the STAG Research Centre, said:

“It is a tremendous privilege to have Professor Seiberg delivering the 2019 STAG Public Lecture. Professor Seiberg is one of the leading theoretical physicists of his generation and his work has revolutionised the way we think about the quantum cosmos. I am looking forward to hearing about his insights into the frontiers of fundamental physics.”
