Title:
Discrete Connes metric, a Computation
Abstract:
In this talk I shall present the so called Connes metric, a metric that was introduced by Alain Connes in noncommutative geometry, which consists of defining a spectral distance from values taken by operator observables rather than from classical coordinates. With the help of Jörg Fliege we have used optimization type techniques to compute the “Discrete Connes metric”. Also I would like to try and address the question of how this could be used in applications.
Bio: My background before my PhD was in Pure and applied Mathematics. My PhD project is in conjunction with a research called “Blackouts Project”, my challenge has been to find and research areas of Spectral Graph Theory and other areas of mathematics, which could contribute to this physical problem of wide area cascading blackouts.
