Maths Seminar

We proposed a reliability analysis and a spare inventory management model for a fleet of repairable systems, where each repairable system comprises multiple line replaceable units (LRU) which can be quickly replaced at the first level maintenance facility. We first consider a non-stationary system failure process triggered by multiple statistically dependent sub failure processes of different types of LRU. Given a fleet size expansion plan, a hierarchical probability model is developed to predict the future demands for each type of LRU. Based on the predicted demand, an optimal inventory policy is developed to minimize the expected cost, and a dynamic programming is formulated to obtain the target inventory level for each type of LRU at any given time. Finally, a MATLAB built-in program, called MAT-IPRS, is provided to make our methodology applicable in practice.
