Abstract
From gene interactions and brain activity to high school friendships and zebras grazing together, large, noisy, and highly dynamic networks of interactions are everywhere.
Unfortunately, in this domain, our ability to analyse data lags substantially behind our ability to collect it. In this talk I will show how computational approaches can be part of every stage of the scientific process of understanding how entities interact, from data collection (by using our network sampling framework which results in representative samples for many network problems) to hypothesis formulation (using dynamic community inference, and periodic pattern discovery techniques).
