Postgraduate Pure Seminar

The Hanna Neumann Conjecture(HNC) is a statement about the rank of the intersection of two finitely generated subgroups of a free group which was asked by Hanna Neumann in 1957. The conjecture was finally proved in 2011, independently by Igor Mineyev and Joel Friedman.
This talk is based on the Dicks' simplification of Mineyev's proof of the strengthened form of HNC. If time permits, we will see how SHNC can be generalised for free products of groups.
