Congruence subgroups of braid groups Seminar

Abstract
A specialization of the classical Burau representation gives rise to a symplectic representation of the braid group. In this talk we will discuss the resulting congruence subgroups of braid groups, that is, preimages of the principal subgroups congruence of the symplectic group. In particular, we will give topological characterizations of the certain braid congruence groups. (This talk will describe some joint work with Dan Margalit.)
